2020 will be labeled as one of the worst years in history but with the arrival of 2021, it’s time to start and prepare for a fresh new year filled with positivity. Due to COVID-19, many TV shows, movies, and world events were delayed or canceled in 2020 making the year even more disappointing. However, 2021 is expected to bring numerous major events and movie releases. Let’s look at seven things to look forward to in 2021.
1. Black Widow
The long-awaited Black Widow movie is finally coming out on May 7th. Many Marvel fans were excited for the movie that was supposed to be released in November. However, the pandemic forced the release to be postponed.
A little background information about Natasha Romanoff or Black Widow: she was born in the Soviet Union and was an orphan until a man named Ivan Petrovitch saved her. After she was trained by him, the Soviet Intelligence (KGB) recruited her, acknowledging her exceptional athletic abilities. She was placed into the Black Widow Program and trained at the Red Room after serving in World War II as a young girl. The Soviets improved her stamina, power, and resistance to diseases. After hardships with the death of her loved ones, she finally earned the title Black Widow. At first, she fought against the Avengers but later broke away from her superiors and joined S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers.
2. Tokyo Olympics 2021
The Olympics, a global event that happens every four years, was delayed for the first time since the opening of the Olympics in 1896. The Olympics has been canceled only three times in history which was once during World War I and twice during World War II but never postponed. The Olympics will be held from July 23rd to August 8th. Many sports fans from all around the world are anticipating this major event.
3. Friends Reunion
First premiered in 1994, the sitcom Friends was a legendary hit. The show that almost all Americans know is finally holding a reunion of all six main characters. Not to the disappointment of many original Friends fans, the main cast is returning as actors and not as their characters. Their reunion will showcase behind the scenes and revisit the sets. Like all other shows, the reunion was postponed to March 2021.
4. 63rd Grammys
Many music lovers look forward to attending the Grammys, rooting for their favorites artists and songs. There were many hits this year from artists like Dababy, Cardi B, Megan Stallion, Harry Styles, etc who were only some of the nominees of the 63rd Grammys. The Grammys will take place on January 31st and be aired on CBS.
5. WandaVision
Many Marvel fans mourned Vision’s death caused by Thanos in Infinity War and are looking forward to the release of Wanda Vision. While characters like Black Panther, Spider-man, and many others returned in the Endgame, Vision wasn’t one of them. However, in this series, Vision will be reappearing as one of the main characters along with Wanda Maximoff. The two super-powered individuals are living glamorized suburban lives, but they begin to “suspect that everything is not as it seems,” according to Disney Plus. The first episode will be released on January 15th, and the second episode will be released a week later.
6. Inauguration of Joe Biden
The Inauguration of Joe Biden will take place on January 20th, officially marking Biden as the 46th president of the United States serving a new four-year term with Kamala Harris as the vice president. Also, it was announced that COVID 19 memorial will be featured in Biden’s inauguration. The memorial will be to remember and honor the American lives lost due to the virus.
7. Dune
Many people were surprised and thrilled after seeing the cast of this movie. Top actors and actresses Zendaya, Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Jason Momoa, etc are just some of the characters. Dune is about a talented young man named Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) who decides to travel to the most treacherous planet in order to guarantee the future of his people and family. Dune will be expected on October 1st on HBO MAX.
