Election:
Georgia and North Carolina—two key battleground states—began accepting early votes this week. In Georgia, over 300,000 people casted their votes on the first day—this is almost twice the number in 2020.
With only three weeks to go, polls essentially show that Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are essentially tied in all swing states. Both Harris and Trump are continuing to visit these states to campaign.

Middle East:

Israeli forces have reportedly eliminated Yahya Sinwar, the Hamas leader considered to be the mastermind behind the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel that sparked the current conflict in Gaza. The 62-year-old Sinwar, who had been leading Hamas in Gaza since 2017, was killed during a military operation in the Gaza Strip.
SCOTUS:
The Supreme Court allowed the EPA to temporarily enforce new regulations on greenhouse gas emissions from power plants, denying an emergency request from 20 Republican state attorneys general and industries.
Lufthansa:
Germany’s largest airline Lufthansa was fined $4 million for not allowing 128 Jewish Orthodox passengers on board over “misbehavior of a few.” This fine is the largest ever penalty by the US Department of Transportation for civil rights violations.
Other:
Liam Payne, English singer and former member of One Direction, died at 31. He fell from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Local police said they received a 911 call about an aggressive man. Payne previously struggled with addiction and mental health.
